Holding the Tongue on the Net

These last few days, there's been a sparking debate that has lit up Facebook, Twitter and the rest of the blogosphere about one of the ministers shaking hand with first lady Michelle Obama. My colleague always informs me the latest status on her twitter about the progress. It's a bit weird.

This makes me think how great the impact of online social network in shaping public opinion or creating a stir up issue. One slip on the tongue posted on the net will be fatal like a bite of the leathal cobra. If only it was not posted, if only there's no blaming on others, I beleive the issue would not spread like a raging fire on dry season. One careless action might jeopardize the entire building construction. Instead of supressing the issue, holding tongue, the snowball is rolled on til it gets bigger and bigger.

Ehm...I wonder too in the case of helping victims of Merapi explosion or earth-quake generated tsunami in Mentawai, will such issue as shaking hands, or making any physical contact (for it is impossible not to touch the victims when he/she should be carried into safer ground) be deemed as taboo too?

I hope this issue will die soon as it's just a waste of time...and I hope any statesmen will be much more careful in guarding their personal affairs ... not easily being provoked by trivial matters ... most importantly thinking before saying...calculating before acting...
